Searching for God? We have good news for you! "God looks down from heaven, searching among all mankind to see if there is a single one who does right and really seeks for God." (Psalm 53:2) What may surprise you is that God has been reaching out to you for some time now! In fact you are the single most important item on God's agenda. The Bible paints a beautiful picture of God's love for us: "...I have loved you...with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself." (Jeremiah 31:3) It is God's love that draws us to Him, yet our natural tendency is to pursue what we desire for our lives instead of what God desires for our lives. The Bible calls this selfish attitude sin. PROBLEM: Sin separates us from God. Sin separates us from God and causes us to turn our back on God's love. "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23 NASB) God hates sin because it destroys our relationship with Him and ultimately will cause us eternal pain and suffering. -------------------------------------------------------------------- At this point you may be asking, "How can I restore my relationship with God?" ANSWER: God came to reestablish His relationship with His creation personally. How: God became a man- His name is Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus is more than just a man. Jesus is God: "Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God." (John 1:1-2) We are told in the Bible Jesus is "God with us": "Listen! The virgin shall conceive a child! She shall give birth to a Son, and he shall be called 'Emmanuel' (meaning, 'God is with us')." (Matthew 1:23) This tells us that God is not isolated from us. He knows what it is like to experience joy and pain, victory and heartache. He knows exactly what we are dealing with on a day to day basis. God not only desires to give you eternal life, He also wants to give us meaning in life now: Jesus said "...My purpose is to give life in all its fullness." (John 10:10) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Common Question: If Jesus is God why did He die? Jesus died in order to pay the penalty for my and your sin. GOD'S GIFT The Bible tells us that the penalty for sin is death: "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Jesus knew that we could not afford such a high price. SO HE PAID IT FOR US!!! He took our sins on Himself when He died on the cross. Jesus proved that He has defeated sin, death, and hell when He rose from the dead. When Jesus died on the cross He made it possible for us to have our sins erased and our relationship with God restored. So how do we restore our relationship with God?: Admit our need for Christ.a living relationship with God is a gift that we cannot earn: "God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT) "But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. And it is perfectly proper for God to do this for us because Christ died to wash away our sins." (I John 1:9) "There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them." (Acts 4:12) "(The) Salvation that comes from trusting Christ... is already within easy reach." (Romans 10:8 NLT) -------------------------------------------------------------------- It's not complicated. If you would like to transfer your trust to Christ right now simply pray this prayer with a sincere heart: Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I invite you into my heart If you were sincere you are now forgiven and completely accepted by God! GOD'S ASSURANCE IS HIS WORD. THE BIBLE SAYS... "for whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13) "God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins." (Colossians 2:13) -------------------------------------------------------------------- What Do I Do Now? Read your Bible daily.
